Charismatic saxophonist Pedro Bittencourt will guest at ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics with a new program; this time interactive. Electronic sounds interact with applause, voices, and other noises, and together with live electronic alterations and videos, expand the saxophone to a multiple instrument. Controlled audio-feedback is the starting point for Agostino Di Scipio’s composition, while Phivos-Angelos Kollias carries out live processing of all sounds that can be registered in the space and Pedro Castillo Lara plays with spatial reflections and video. In the compositions by Bernd Schultheis, Arturo Fuentes, and Paulo Ferreira Lopes the live-electronic possibilities of expanded saxophone playing techniques are explored through gestures, noises, and sounds.
