The ZKM celebrates its 25th Anniversary
Mon, January 06, 2014 11 am – 6 pm CET, Festival

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of its founding the ZKM not only invites the public to the Open Day 2014 to experience current activities of the house, but to also take a glance back together: the contemporary relevance of the house is shown through artist’s discussions, guided tours, a panel discussion as well as exhibition openings. A stroll through the info-mile recollects past events, exhibitions and productions of the foregoing quarter of a century.

The thematic focus of the Open Day 2014 is not only placed on the exhibition »TYPEMOTION. Type as Image in Movement«; script in film is treated by a film program for children, artist’s discussions as well as lectures. Highlights of the day are, among others, performances by the »Dance Spectroscopy and Hidden Fields«", the opening of the exhibition »Kata Legrady. Smart Pistols« at 3 p.m. at the ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art, the book flea market in the ZKM_Media Lounge, as well as our info-mile, which extends from the ZKM_Foyer to the HfG. Productions of the last 25 years with which the ZKM made its public appearance are shown here: from placards about publications and flyers through to exhibition film trailers and Apps − one or the other memory is bound to be awakened here! A pleasant reading lounge decorated with classics from our range of publications and exhibition brochures tempts one to linger over a coffee and to take a break for the final spurt down the info-mile.

In addition, as every year, numerous guides through the ZKM exhibitions, as well as the legendary museum rally for big and small offer the possibility to investigate the house on one's own. Additional guides promise rare insights in the otherwise hidden areas of the institutions, such as into the library, the Laboratory for Antiquated Video Systems as well as in the music studios and the Cube of the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics.

The ZKM looks forward to numerous interested visitors as well as inquisitive glimpses into the ZKM's past, present and future projects.
