The ZKM is scheduled to show an overview of the multilayered work of Ed Sommer, the artist who prefers to call himself »picture-language maker«. The retrospective exhibition ranges from early monochrome relief paintings and better-known thermorplastic deformations through to the more recent photographic works. Furthermore, with this exhibition a selection of Ed Sommer’s restored and digitalized experimental films will now be on show for the first time since the early 1970s.
