New compositions for saxophone & bassoon
Sat, June 24, 2017 7 pm CEST, Concert

With »soundspaces«, the instrumental combination of saxophone and bassoon will be presented for the first time with a newly designed concert program.

Sascha Armbruster (alto/baritone/tenor saxophone) and Johannes Schwarz (bassoon/contra bassoon) will radically and masterfully test the limits of this as yet overlooked combination. All pieces have been newly composed especially for this line-up and use surround sound and live electronics as an integral component. The acoustic institutes ZKM Karlsruhe and the ICST (Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology Zürich) have supported »soundspaces« in the development and recording phase with exclusively developed sound technology and software.

»soundspaces« has invited Berlin-based musician and composer Paul Frick to accompany the group as a special guest. Together with Daniel Brandt and Jan Brauer, Paul Frick is part of the Brandt Brauer Frick group. He took composition classes with Il-Ryun Chung and studied composition under Friedrich Goldmann at the Berlin University of the Arts between 2000 and 2008.
