The Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln (KHM) [Academy of Media Arts Cologne] was founded in 1990 – one year after the ZKM | Karlsruhe – and specializes in the study of media art. Julia Scher is professor of media art at the KHM and focuses mainly on Multimedia and Performance »Surveillant Architecture«. In both her artistic and teaching activities, together with Christian Sievers attention centers on the subjects of surveillance and security, including in architectonic contexts. During the summer semester of 2015, their students worked intensively on these subjects, and developed installations for the exhibition GLOBAL CONTROL AND CENSORSHIP.
