On March 31, the three exhibitions – retrospectives of Nanni Balestrini (born 1935), Hansjörg Mayer (born 1943) and Gerhard Rühm (born 1930) – mark the start of the »Poetic Expansions« series of exhibitions. »Poetic Expansions« presents one of the most important trends of art in the twentieth century: the expansion of artistic media.

Uncertainty and disorientation currently characterize the mood of Western democracies. In Great Britain, the answer to globalization and the European crisis is to be Brexit. In the USA, the president wants to make America great again by isolating it.But how are the problems of the present meant to be solved with concepts of special national paths? This is what Prof. Heinz Bude discusses at his lecture on April 27.

On the occasion of the exhibition »Beat Generation«, which is currently to be seen at the ZKM, Stephanie Fezer wrote a review on the publication »Love, H. The Letters of Helene Dorn and Hettie Jones«. The just-published correspondence between Jones and Dorn highlights the women of the Beat generation, who stood in the shadow of the male Beatniks for a long time.
