Biography

Marko Nikodijevic was born in 1980 in Subotica, Serbia, and studied composition in Belgrade between 1995 and 2003 with Zoran Erić and Srdjan Hofman. In addition he attended courses and lectures in nonlinear mathematics and physics. After completing his education in the Serbian capital in 2003, he began his postgraduate studies in composition with Marco Stroppa at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. Nikodijevic settled in Stuttgart, from where he took up scholarships, master classes and composition seminars in Apeldoorn, Visby, Weimar, Amsterdam, Salzwedel and Baden-Baden. His compositional work has been honoured with prizes and awards at the International Young Composers Meeting Apeldoorn, Gaudeamus Music Week Amsterdam, the 3rd Brandenburg Biennale and the UNESCO Rostrum of Composers.

From 2012 to 2013 Nikodijevic was a scholarship holder at the Cité internationale des Arts in Paris. In 2013 he received one of the three composer promotion prizes of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation and in 2014 he was awarded the German Music Authors' Prize in the category promoting young talent.
