The drums have developed and improved over the last one hundred years like no other group of instruments. The compositional boundaries between European and non-European instruments and sound worlds are porous. The internationally renowned percussionists Jean Geoffroy and Isao Nakamura will be introducing the various playing techniques and tonal possibilities of contemporary percussion music. The workshop draws on the composition classes of the Manheim, Stuttgart, Basel and Frankfurt academies of music.
