Andrei Ujica: The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceauşescu

“The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceauşescu” (2010, 180 min.), the new film by Professor Andrei Ujica of the HfG (Karlsruhe University of Art and Design), was first shown at the 63rd film festival in Cannes, in 2010, and celebrated by the international press (“ ... the festival’s most fascinating biopic”, The Washington Post, 21 May, 2010; “ Il donne le sentiment que le Cinéma et l’art du montage ont été inventés pour aboutir à ce type de films. “ Le Temps, 19 May, 2010). The film comprises the third part of Andrei Ujica’s trilogy on the end of communism in Rumania, in 1989. “The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceauşescu” was produced by Icon-Production, Bucharest with the support of CNC Bucharest and the HfG/ZKM Film Institute. Andrei Ujica was born in Timişoara, Rumania, in 1951, and has been living in Germany since 1981. Since 2001, he has been Professor for film at the Karlsruhe University of Art and Design.
