The Japanese sound artist Akio Suzuki is one of the pioneers of the art form “Sound Art” and is guest at the ZKM | Karlsruhe for the first time. Since the 1960s he has been analyzing selected sites for their acoustic attributes and develops the corresponding topographies. The highly focused occupation with the phenomenon of impulse and reverberation during the 1970s led to the development of his own instruments.

One such instrument is the spiral-echo-instrument ANALAPOS-A. The name combines the terms "analog" and "postmodern" and stands for analog hearing in the digital age. In the performance at the ZKM, Suzuki will play and elicit from this instrument a variety of sounds.

Previously at 3 p.m.: guided tour through the exhibition with co-curator Julia Gerlach
