Seven prototypes for ecosocial renewal
Sat, March 25, 2023 – Sun, October 08, 2023
Atrium 1+2
Cost: Museumseintritt

From a process of three years of collaboration, research, and experimentation, seven prototypes for ecosocial renewal have emerged in exchanges between artists, scholars, and scientists, which are now being presented for public discussion in various contexts. The ZKM | Karlsruhe is showing the prototypes in connection with the major exhibition »Renaissance 3.0.«

The projects show future-proof concepts that can serve as tools to enable new ways of imagining and living in the world. They propose new ways to engage with each other and with what surrounds us; they explore ways in which AI could mitigate instead of accelerating climate change; immerse us in new forms of making a community through ancestral agricultural knowledge; employ fiction as an tool for imagining new forms of multispecies conviviality; and create embodied connections as an instrument to understand and change human impact on endangered territories. Together, these seven prototypes reinforce perspectives in which collaboration and interdependency become essential determining factors for life and survival on our planet.

Cooperation partners are the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), Forecast Berlin, and the Karlsruhe State Academy of Design (HfG). The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection.
