Description

As part of the »FEMINIST AVANT-GARDE of the 1970s from the SAMMLUNG VERBUND Collection, Vienna« exhibition, the ZKM will be showing the film »anfangen. Ein Filmportrait über Christina Thürmer-Rohr« [»beginning. A film portrait about Christina Thürmer-Rohr«] by Gerd Conradt in the media lounge at six on April 5, 2018.

Feminist theorist, professor emerita of the Technical University of Berlin, social scientist and musician Christina Thürmer-Rohr has characterized an entire generation of women’s movement.

Her work focusses on the criticism of power and the patriarchy, criticism of violence, victim critique, complicity – and friendship. Her forward thinking still inspires to this day. A thought process, which always means being able to speak to oneself and having to live with one’s self. The film touches on moments from the life of Christina Thürmer-Rohr, whose special feature is that she lives her thinking – does not separate perception and action. It explores the groundlessness that free thinking can provoke. Following the thought processes of Hannah Arendt, a »film without guardrails« has been created.

Following the film screening, there will be a discussion with Christina Thürmer-Rohr and Gerd Conradt.
