Description
Nye Parry is composer and sound artist. During his residency at the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics (IMA) he continue his research around exploded sounds, the spatialisation of individual partials, which forms the basis of his installations »The Exploded Sound« and »Significant Birds«. He wanted to find ways of using these techniques in a more concert-oriented context. The installations rely on the ability of the listener to move around hearing sounds from different perspectives. At the IMA Lab he had the opportunity to work with the Zirkonium software and 43-speaker sound dome. In the conversation with Ludger Brümmer, head of the IMA, he gave insight in his experiences with this innovative tools.
