Summer break: Open Codes

From August 6–31, the exhibition »Open Codes. Living in Digital Worlds« is closed due to reconstruction. The second phase of the successful educational experiment opens on September 1, 2018 with new works under the title »Open Codes. The World as a Field of Data«. 

On September 1 and 2, the second phase of the exhibition opens as part of a festive opening weekend.

After the first phase of the exhibition showed many examples of coding, from Morse code to genetic code, and their artistic and industrial application, the second phase focuses on the investigation of a world that is primarily generated and controlled by data. It opens on September 1, 2018 with a comprehensive workshop and education program as well as a reOPENing party and hackLOUNGE. Around 40 new works will be set up in the exhibition space – highlight is the large-scale installation »The World as a Data Field« with 40 screens by Peter Weibel and Christian Lölkes. 

Since the launch of the exhibition and knowledge experiment »Open Codes. Living in Digital Worlds« on October 20, 2017 until the end of June 2018, almost 100,000 visitors visited the exhibition. The first foreign station of »Open Codes«  in the gallery of the Goethe-Institut Mumbai had about 3,500 visitors in two months.
