Tue, December 02, 2014 6 pm CET, Lecture
In the years between 1979 and 1987, Heinrich Klotz, founding Director of the Deutsche Architekturmuseum/Frankfurt am Main documented his numerous journeys and meetings with architects, as well as the founding of the DAM and the construction of the Collection by way of cassette tapes.

On the occasion of this year’s 30th anniversary of the DAM, ARCH+ – in cooperation with DAM – published these hitherto unpublished cassette-tape dictations, the so-called Klotz Tapes. In cooperation with the ZKM │Center of Art and Media Karlsruhe – the second important institute Heinrich Klotz was to baptize twenty-five years ago following the foundation of DAM – and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, ARCH+ is inviting Oliver Elser, curator of the anniversary exhibition at DAM, to a presentation of the Klotz Tapes – to the edition of which he made decisive contributions. Georg Vrachliotis, Professor of the theory of architecture at KIT, will discuss early historicization of postmodernity and the necessity of a critical history of contemporary architecture.
