Hochsitzcafé
You can see a green meadow on which there are several raised seats in the middle of trees.
A meeting place for communication, exchange and encounters
April–October 2024

The Karlsruhe artists Indra. and Olaf Quantius have developed the »Hochsitzcafé« project especially for the »Katzenwedelwiese«, turning the meadow into a freely accessible meeting place. In cooperation with the Chair of Fine Arts at KIT and students from the KIT Faculty of Architecture, the two artists have designed an ensemble of raised hides that deliberately sets itself apart from the typical architecture of traditional hunters' stands with its design and the arrangement of the three flying structures. The »Hochsitzcafé« is an invitation to all neighbors, walkers, citizens and passers-by to use it at any time for a chat.

In addition to us humans, meadow creatures such as insects and bats have also been considered. The high seats are made from recycled old wood, some of which was donated by residents of the meadow.

The installation is managed by the »Hochsitzkollektiv«, an open group led by the artists Indra. and Olaf Quantius, which is constantly changing.
