Biography
Ad Reinhardt (Adolph Dietrich Friedrich Reinhardt) studied at Columbia College, Columbia University, New York (1931–1935) and painting at the National Academy of Design and the American Artists School, New York (1936–1937). From 1937 member of American Abstract Artists (AAA). 1947–1967 assistant professor of design at Brooklyn College, New York. He also taught at the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco, the University of Wyoming, Yale University, and Hunter College, New York. 1948 founding member of the Artist’s Club in New York. 1951 co-editor with Robert Motherwell and Bernard Karpel of »Modern Artists in America«.
