»Zuck-Err-DNA« combines physical art with digital NFT technology. Artist Kamila B. Richter is taking a new approach and, in collaboration with Alex Wenger and Michael Bielicky, is making it possible to purchase 150 limited-edition NFTs from the »Zuck-Err-DNA« series.

The world's trust in Zuckerberg and his vision of the metaverse is tarnished and scarred, as is his portrait in the larger-than-life aluminium prints by artist Kamila B. Richter. The digital scars come from a Sony Ericsson mobile phone (2006) that sometimes produces digital images according to factory settings, but suddenly also produces Err videos - faulty artefact recordings. As suddenly as these artefacts appear, they also disappear again. Kamila B. Richter has no influence on this malfunction, which has grown naturally over the years. Like the Facebook algorithms, the »Zuck-Err-DNA« series holds Zuckerberg captive and shields him at the same time. Even UV light can no longer harm the portraits in the technically refined high-gloss medium.

The latest NFT technology complements the physical portrait series with 150 NFTs that constantly self-generate and deconstruct at the same time. Thus, each piece is unique. The NFTs of the »Zuck-Err-DNA« series are a collaboration of the artist with Alex Wenger and Michael Bielicky. Similar to the logic of Facebook algorithms, the digital DNA of the works changes unpredictably, keeping Zuckerberg trapped in his own labyrinths.

Due to the exclusivity of this distribution channel, as well as the relatively high number of interested parties, NFTs fetched record prices, especially in late 2021, as well as early 2022. Although these wallets are available like commercially available apps in the relevant online stores of Google and Apple, choosing the right wallet and securing the password is a hurdle that deters many everyday users. In the context of »Zuck-Err-DNA«, the knowledge of a technology is used as currency for the first time in art history.

Visitors will thus have the opportunity to register to receive a free NFT artwork. The number is limited to 150 and will be allocated in order of registration. Registration for an NFT takes place via a QR code that can be seen on a monitor at the ZKM.
