Open Call: Spatial Storytelling

Artists who have completed their training and have their own artistic practice and have proven experience in one of the following areas:

• Spatial Audio
• Acoustic storytelling, with or without voice 
• Studio and recording experience
• Production of radio plays, podcasts, other narrative audio formats
• Applications are open to individuals of legal age from all over the world. Applications as a collective or group are possible, but the scholarship will only be paid out once.

Dr. Walter Filz, SWR, Tina Lorenz and Dominik Kautz, ZKM | Hertzlab, will make the selection for the scholarship.

Arrival is scheduled for 06.10.24. The period for the residencies is fixed and extends from 7.10.2024 to 8.11.2024. Departure is on 09.11.2024.

The duration of the work or showcase may not exceed 45 minutes and will be presented to the public as a premiere/public showcase as part of the ARD Radio Play Days on Friday, 08.11.2024 at the ZKM | Cube.

During the residency, assistance from the ZKM | Hertzlab can be provided, but the selected artists should be able to carry out their research and production largely independently.

The amount of the grant is €1,500 for the entire duration of the stay. Upon submission of receipts, up to an additional €500 can be claimed as material or production costs. Travel expenses for the one-off journey to and from the residency will be reimbursed in accordance with the applicable travel expenses law. Accommodation will be provided free of charge by the ZKM.

All complete applications must be submitted via our application portal by 23:59 CEST on September 26, 2024. Incomplete applications will not be considered in the selection process. Notification of selection will be sent by e-mail on Monday, September 30, 2024.
