- Description
- The male shoulder and chest area is a classic means of depicting strength. Man today has multiplied his natural powers through tools. The most socially significant is the car. It is not only a means of transport, but also a carrier of news. It has developed its own formal language in which the human desire to be bigger and stronger than others finds expression - despite the discrepancy between what is technically possible and what is socially desirable. In the sculpture "GTX", Hans-Jürgen and Helga Lannoch have tried to represent these extreme features in the shape of the car in the interplay of shoulder, body and tyre elements. These are, for power, the extra-wide tyres that seem to burst out of the side of the body and, for speed, the front and rear formation.
