Description

The series »Sonic Experiments« is dedicated to current developments within the various varieties of experimental electronic music. The program presents upcoming musicians and sound artists who either have a special sense for new, forward-looking impulses, or pursue particularly innovative compositional approaches. The aim of the series is to invite the audience to expect the unexpected.

Lam Lai:

As the world reshapes itself to accommodate an ever-growing population, access to natural green spaces is becoming increasingly limited, especially for those tied to cities. Instead of walking among real, living trees and experiencing the vitality of nature first-hand, we construct boundaries and create artificial environments to capture the essence of nature and bring it indoors. But can this artificial illusion of natural beauty really satisfy our need to connect with the natural world?
By creating an artificial natural scene through sound, I reflect the cycle of nature and distill its essence into a sonic experience. With Spotless White, I want to invite you to revisit memories of real encounters with nature and encourage you to reflect on what you may have missed in those moments.
Performed live with analogue synthesizers that blend seamlessly into the acoustic structure of the space, I celebrate the raw authenticity of analogue sound by capturing its warmth, depth and organic texture in real time.
