Between Risk and Security: Shaping the Digital Transformation

Lectures & Workshop

What are the potential risks of digital change, especially artificial intelligence? How much security is even achievable? These questions are currently occupying scientists and the public with new urgency. The ZKM | Center for Art and Media, together with three universities - the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the University of Mannheim and the University of Tübingen - invites you to join the conversation.

Security in the digital space and the resulting trust are a prerequisite for being able to use and expand the opportunities of digitalization. Real dangers and uncertainty can not only jeopardize technical innovation, but also social cohesion. The challenges range from fake news to attacks on technical infrastructure. Cybersecurity was therefore anchored as a central cross-sectional task in the state of Baden-Württemberg's digitalization strategy in 2017.

»Between Risk and Security: Shaping the Digital Transformation« presents a selection of topics for discussion with keynote speeches and group discussions: from the effects of ChatGPT and fake news to IT security and cryptography. Where does science see a need for action, and where does the public? We would like to hear your views.

You are cordially invited to a drink and get-together from 8 pm. You also have the opportunity to visit the exhibition »Digilog N° 3 / But Is It Safe?« in the Digiloglounge of the ZKM free of charge before the event from 4 pm.

Digitalization in Dialogue - digilog@bw
The evening is part of the digilog@bw project, a research network of Baden-Württemberg universities, research institutions and the ZKM | Karlsruhe, in which more than 50 scientists have been involved since 2019: from the humanities, social sciences, law, economics, media and communication sciences, ethics and computer science, as well as interdisciplinary technology assessment.
