Biography
h0nh1m (Chris Cheung Hon Him) is an artist known for both installation art and audiovisual performances. He works with electronics, sound art, image and creative technology in new media, to create immersive soundscapes, generative and data driven art. In his pieces, he draws on concepts of Eastern and Western philosophy.
His critically acclaimed work »RadianceScape« was featured at Ars Electronica, FILE Festival and was performed at Sónar Festival as well as WRO Art Biennale. h0nh1m was awarded the ZKM | Karlsruhe and SWR Experimentalstudio Giga-Hertz Award Production Price in 2020. His calligraphy installation »No Longer Write - Mochiji« is part of the collection of Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts and the United Overseas Bank in Singapore. »InkFlux« was presented at the 24th Japan Media Arts Festival.
In 2008, he founded the artist collectives, XCEPT and XCEED. Their works are showcased worldwide and won internationally renowned awards such as Red Dot Design Award, A’ Design, Golden Pin and ADC Young Guns 11. He received the Young Artist Award from HKADC and the Young Design Talent Awards from HKDC in 2010 and 2011. Recently, he established the innovation lab XPLOR and created a platform called FutureTense which is dedicated to the future of living, aesthetics and education.
