Biography
Pedro Almiro explores concepts of presence and resonance within his work, expanding the liminal spaces between what is heard, felt and imagined. Employing a strong focus on rhythm, field recording and research of ecological and affective dimensions he stretches the appreciation given to inhabiting a soundscape.
De-constructing a musical education around the drum-set and composition, instruments have become more than designated timekeepers and are seen as generative forces: transforming percussive energy into extended feedbacks and textured tones, while engaging in electronic processing and cross-disciplinary collaborations.
A decade long practice in field recording has further motivated an interest in listening techniques and the creative potential of sound art — namely, fictional soundscapes. Carrying with it, the belief that an effort to deepen our understanding about the nature of sound will collectively inform the notion of what constitutes 'reality' in our common aural experiences.
