Audio work about invisible heaviness: the burden society puts on us. We're held back by visible and invisible barriers, endless obligations to prove ourselves, and the constant fear of isolation and judgment – until we're told that we ourselves are the burden. Version for the Klangdom of the original 8-channel audio and video work — an acoustic exploration of the stigma of disability and the question: Who's carrying the load here?
„All Who Are Weary and Heavy Laden, I Will Give You Rest“ (Fixed Media, around 40min.)
This originally 8-channel audio and video work is being presented at the ARD Hörspieltage in a new Klangdom version as a purely audio-based piece. It explores the collaborative working process of Boško Begović and Amble Skuse, addressing themes such as exhaustion, mutual dependency, and mental health. During their collaboration, the artists Begović and Skuse entered into a unique dialogue: Boško’s movements generated data that influenced the sound and visuals of Amble’s sonic landscape—resulting in a work that functions only through their interplay. The narrative explores the connection between wellness and the burdens of modern life, touching on masculinity and the implications of physical limitations. It interrogates how added weight can destabilize existing structures, emphasising that balance is not anathema to disability but a form of interdependence and care. The piece challenges viewers to consider the societal infrastructures that support or hinder individuals, and how we perceive strength and resilience in the face of such challenges.
This piece was produced In Collaboration with Boško Begovic.
