»Bildschirmspiel 01 (BSS 01)« was the only game console manufactured in the GDR.

It was produced from 1980 to 1984. The sales price of 500 marks corresponded to half an East German’s monthly salary, which is why the console was more likely to be found in youth recreation centers and educational institutions than in private households.

»BSS 01« was a replica of the »Pong« console, which Atari launched in 1975.
