Curatorial guided tour with Erec Gellautz
Fri, April 07, 2017 5 pm – 6 pm CEST, Guided Tour
The artist Albrecht Kunkel, who passed away long before his time, studied his craft under the greats: under Thomas Struth at Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG), under Bernd Becher at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf and under Katharina Sieverding at the Berlin University of the Arts. What references does his work make to his teachers and where does Kunkel tread genuinely independent paths? How did his photographical legacy come to the ZKM? What motives and themes were particularly dear to Kunkel? And what is revealed from the back of his images? Curator Erec Gellautz provides insights into the work of Albrecht Kunkel and reports about what was discovered during the exhibition’s preparation time of more than a year.
