Davor Vincze: »Music from manτεία«

In 2025, composer and sound artist Davor Vincze received a Giga-Hertz Production Award for his project Let the Spirit Guide You. Adopting a critical perspective on power structures, Let the Spirit Guide You creates performative settings that actively engage the audience, exploring questions of control, compliance, participation, and the tension between human agency and digital systems.

As part of his presentation at the Giga-Hertz Award ceremony, Vincze presented music from manτεία (2024). For this occasion, his music was presented together with a video work by the artist collective current.cam (Provides Ng, Eli Joteva, Yanzi and Artem Konevskikh) as an audiovisual excerpt from the larger project.

manτεία (“prophecy” or “divination”) is a transdisciplinary performance written and produced by Roberto Alonso Trillo and Peter A. C. Nelson. The project examines how ancient practices of geomancy and divination relate to contemporary attempts to find meaning in artificial intelligence. Premiered at Freespace, West Kowloon, Hong Kong, in December 2024, the performance brought together Hong Kong based artists working across music, dance, kinetic sculpture, light, video, virtual environments and AI. Their individual contributions were interconnected through a process of multimodal mapping, allowing signals generated by one artistic medium to influence another.
