In worldwide comparison, the ZKM | Center for Art and Media is a unique culture institution. It unites under one roof production and research, exhibitions and events, mediation and documentation. Each of the departments – the Media Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Institute for Visual Media, the Institute for Music and Acoustics and the Institute for Media, Education and Economics – examines the new media in theory and practice, tests the potential of these media with their own developments, presents possible applications and reflects on the design of information society. The ZKM offers its visitors space to participate in the form of events and guided tours, to view the public collections as well as visit the media library.
