Following the spectacular presentation of the Canadian scene in the first concert of the new series in the Blue Cube, the next concert will be devoted to Italian composers and their pioneering masterpieces. Friday evening will see the presentation of works by the foremost composers of electronic music in Italy, Luigi Nono, Bruno Maderna and Luciano Berio. The importance of electronic music for composition is generally underestimated. All three composers gained their most lasting musical impressions in electronic studios. Berio said shortly before his death this year that he always wrote his orchestral pieces on the basis of his experiences in the electronic studio. This concert stages the works with the help of modern loudspeakers grouped in the hall. It is a reinterpretation of sound, an attempt at musical interpretation.
