Biography

Amin Husain is a Palestinian-American lawyer, artist, and activist. He has a BA in Philosophy and Political Science, a JD from Indiana University Law School, Bloomington, and LLM in Law from Columbia University. He practiced at a law firm for five years before leaving law for art, studying at the School of the International Center of Photography (2009 – 2010) and at the Whitney Independent Study Program (2011 – 2012). Amin is a founder and editor of »Tidal: Occupy Theory, Occupy Strategy«, a printed magazine and an on-line and in-person conversation that facilitates movement-generated theory, strategy, and action. Amin is also a part-time lecturer at The New School where he teaches a graduate course entitled Race, Class and Ethnicity in Media, and he is cofounder of MTL with Nitasha Dhillon, a collective that combines research, aesthetics, and activism in its practice.
