Digital Defects
Within the exhibition »Architecture of the Alphabet« the ZKM presents another artwork by Adam Slowik: »Digital Defects«.
Since the »The Responsive Eye« exhibition in 1965 at the MoMA in New York, art that deals with the phenomenon of perception has been known as op art. This perceptual research could be further developed through the means of the computer into a dominating art of special effects in photography and film. By using rendering software from the automobile industry or product design, such as KeyShot or Bunkspeed, artists are able to create a new digital op art. Adam Slowik uses his ABC Object to exhibit the endless options of computer-generated op art in a representative selection, while also being a criticism of the ilusional character of perception and the industry of special effects. For this reason, the exhibition is called »Digital Defects«.
