Good Design is also Vision and Utopia. Once a year, the »Digital Bauhaus Summit« gathers 150 creative artists, researchers and people involved in the cultural sector from all over the world in Weimar in order to update the philosophy of Bauhaus and discuss the political dimension of design: From the cooperation and community concerning social design, to »Luxury Communism«, a possible society, and full-automatisation.
The speakers take part in workshops, lectures and simulation exercises, delving into the question of how we want to design our society if machines worked for us. The impulse generators of the current social observation are involved: Cultural theorist Mark Fischer, science fiction legend Bruce Sterling, communication researcher Sarah Sharma, capitalism critic Evgeny Morozov and many more.
The ZKM is involved as the media partner this year.
