Lam Lai

LAM Lai received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Composition and Electronic Music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and further studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and the Institute of Sonology. In addition to classical works, she focuses on works with predominantly electronic sounds and performative elements. In 2017 – 18 she worked as a composer and performer for productions for the Leiden music theater Veenfabriek (NL) and since then has also conceived and created her own music theater works. As part of the interdisciplinary Stuttgart festival DIE IRRITIERTE STADT (2020), she created the performative dance work "Basketball" and performed the electronics herself. In 2023, she performed all live electronics in her orchestral work "There is No Place Like Home (Beta)", commissioned by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. Recently, she has created music and sounds for several installation exhibitions on art and technology, such as the ARTS‧TECH Exhibition in Hong Kong. She has participated in festivals such as the Munich Biennale, ATM Seoul, Iceland CYCLE Music and Art Festival, Musica nova Helsinki and the Hong Kong New Vision Arts Festival.
