Biography

Diana Ferreira studied composition at the University of Aveiro (Portugal) and the Hogeschool Gent (Belgium) with João Pedro Oliveira and Godfried-Willem Raes. She has attended master classes and other courses with Emmanuel Nunes, Jean-Claude Risset, John Chowning, Beat Furrer, Jorge Antunes, Christopher Bochmann, Gérard Grisey, Jonathan Harvey, Salvatore Sciarrino, Kaija Saariaho, Philippe Mannoury, Isabel Mundry and Hans Zender, among others.

In 2002, Ferreira founded Arte no Tempo, a Portuguese non-profit organization dedicated to promoting new music. She is the programmer of the ensemble »ars ad hoc« and artistic director of the biennials »Aveiro_Síntese« (electroacoustic music) and »Reencontros de Música Contemporânea«. Ferreira is also responsible for audience development projects. In addition, she teaches analysis and techniques of composition, as well as cultural and art history. Since 2005, Diana Ferreira has been working as a music critic.
