The Kinemathek, founded in 1974, is Karlsruhe's nonprofit organization that discovers, preserves, and exhibits art house films. The program series are curated and mediated in careful and continuous work, through exchange with distributors and archives, historical research, and aesthetic reflection. The PhonoLuxMaschine was developed by the director, set designer, and artist Didi Müller, the media artist Holger Förterer, and the video artist and managing director of the Kinemathek Marc Teuscher. Didi Müller lives and works in Heidelberg and Karlsruhe. Holger Förterer and Marc Teuscher live and work in Karlsruhe.
