Peter Dabrock
Biography
Peter Dabrock is Professor of Systematic Theology (Ethics) at the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
Peter Dabrock was Chair of the German Ethics Council from 2016 to 2020. His research focuses on the ethics of technical and (bio-)scientific penetration of human life forms (from germline intervention to AI). He was junior professor of bioethics from 2002 to 2008 and then professor of social ethics at the Philipps University of Marburg until 2010; he turned down a call to the Humboldt University of Berlin in 2015. He has contributed his expertise to numerous committees, including the Central Ethics Commission at the German Medical Association, the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies and the German Ethics Council. In 2017, Peter Dabrock became the first theologian to become a member of acatech - the German Academy of Science and Engineering. In 2021, he was appointed to the Foundation Board of the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade.
Peter Dabrock is a member of the working group IT Security, Privacy, Law and Ethics of the Learning Systems Platform.
