Tim Helbig

Biography

After studying media art at the Bauhaus University Weimar in 2012, Tim Helbig completed his master's degree in "Electroacoustic Composition and Sound Design" with Prof. Robin Minard at the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar in July 2014. His artistic work includes the conception and realization of sound installations, the composition of acousmatic music, compositions for experimental and traditional instruments and live electronics as well as theater music. He is also active as a musician and live electronics performer in improvisation concerts and is involved in a variety of projects and concerts that explore and discuss contemporary composition and performance practices. From 2015-23 he taught as an artistic assistant at the Studio for Electroacoustic Music at the Franz Liszt School of Music / Bauhaus University Weimar. He has received several grants for music / composition from the Thuringian Cultural Foundation. In 2022, Tim Helbig was awarded the "Walter Dexel Scholarship of the City of Jena". He is currently a Ph.D. candidate (specializing in art) at the Bauhaus University Weimar.
