Sensual Experience of Digital Archives

As part of SEDA, the digital archive content of »mediaartbase.de«, the largest archive for media art, will be made sensually tangible

Museum visitors of the ZKM | Center for Art and Media experience interactively, visually, haptically and acoustically a novel form of »immersive browsing« (browsing with »immersion effect«), whereby the digital archive holdings can be opened up and explored in various ways with different senses.

This exploration takes place in the form of an immersive installation that works with current technologies, such as interactive touch applications and panoramic multi-channel projection.

The media art archive »mediaartbase.de« was developed in 2008 by the ZKM together with various partners. In addition to documentation and performance material on ZKM's musical and audiovisual productions, it also includes the works of the IDEAMA (The International Digital Electroacoustic Music Archive).
