Bazon Brock and Peter Weibel share a long-standing intellectual companionship. In their programmatic collaborations between Brock, the art theorist and performative art mediator, and Weibel, the media artist, theorist and pluriversalist, they nurtured an expanding space for the medial and intellectual developments in the arts.
On the occasion of Peter Weibel’s media art exhibitions, Bazon Brock organized »pleasure marches through the theoretical terrain«, lead by the question: how can media art be understood as a tool for thought?
In 1968, Bazon Brock developed the legendary format of the »Besucherschule« (visitors’ school) at Documenta IV to introduce visitors to new content in contemporary art. In 2011 he opened the Denkerei in Berlin.
In the video, entitled »World Pathos Digitization«, Bazon Brock reflects on the artistic thought collaborations with Peter Weibel. Accompanied by a camera, he develops a visitor school parcours through the exhibition »Renaissance 3.0« and explains a set of »Denknotwendigkeiten« (thought necessities) in contemplation of the artworks.
