Studied are the concepts of an audio-visual genre based on the re-interpretation and new processing of audio-visual »documents.« The aim is to question whether the tranference of these concepts to digital information is at all possible due to its documentary character. The aspects to be observed are various methods such as archiving, interpreting, and processing of the material. Two concrete project examples will be presented: Quiasma and Ways of Neuron. The Quiasma group is supported by Canada’s Daniel Langlois foundation. The interdisciplinary media artist and researcher Andrés Burbano (*1973) is presently guest researcher at the ZKM | Institute for Basic Research.
