Open House 2008
Sun, January 06, 2008 11 am CET, Celebration
As it does every year, on 6 January the ZKM will offer a view of the numerous exhibitions of the two ZKM | Museums. The exhibitions include "Paul Thek. Werkschau im Kontext zeitgenössischer Kunst" and "YOU_ser: Das Jahrhundert des Konsumenten/The Century of the Consumer". The ZKM | Institutes will also present examples of their works and research projects. For example, the ZKM | Institute for Visual Media will show in the context of the PanoramaFestival, the work "THERE IS STILL TIME . . BROTHER" by the artists of The Wooster Group. The ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics will honor the great composer Pierre Henry with a sound space installation. In addition to the guided tours and well-known museum rally, tasty treats at the ZetKaeM-Bar will provide a culinary balance to the day. The exhibition "ON," in conjunction with the ten-year anniversary of ZKM in Hallenbau, will have its final showing in the ZKM_Media Lounge.

As in past years, the finale to the visitor day will be a panel discussion. Discussed this year will be the current special exhibition "YOU_ser: Das Jahrhundert des Konsumenten/ The Century of theConsumer."

"Dann sah ich einen neuen Himmel und eine neue Erde ..." (Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth)
Einlösung von Heilserwartungen im Internet (Redeeming Expectations of Salvation on the Internet)
Panel discussion in the ZKM_Lecture Hall, 5 p.m.

A cooperation of the ZKM | Karlsruhe and the Roncalli-Forum. The change in the Internet in conjunction with the term Web 2.0 is well-known: receivers become producers. Occurring parallel to this is a convergence of media on the Internet with the presence of press, radio, and television online. The panel discussion will inquire into the consequences that these developments have for art, culture, church, and media.
