In 2008, the Republic of Estonia will celebrate its ninetieth anniversary. As part of the festivities, the government, together with the embassy in Berlin, is organizing an event series called »e wie estland« in Baden-Württemberg from January to June 2008. A dance and new media lab headed by the Estonian choreographer Taavet Jansen will be set up in cooperation with the ZKM | Karlsruhe and will enable a one-week studio collaboration. Public performances will offer a multifaceted insight into the state of the art of choreography and media art in Estonia.

The dance and media performance is based on interactions of space, sound, and dance. The concept was collaboratively developed by Estonian and German artists.

Performance, German premiere
The Estonian choreographer Krõõt Juurak lives in Vienna and Tallinn. In her performance, she tells a modern fairy tale with music, video, and dance.
Christina Ciupke / Mart Kangro »Winners versus Loosers«
Performance
Mart Krango is the most well-known choreographer in Estonia and works in this production for the second time with Christina Ciupke, a minimalist dancer and media artist from Germany. Following its premiere in Tallinn, the production will make a guest appearance at Berlin's Theater Hebbel am Ufer and the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm Frankfurt.
After the performance will be a discussion with the artists about the situation of contemporary dance in Estonia.
Renate Valme »Idula« und Triin Reemann »Good Knews«
Dance duet, German premiere
Renate Valme and Triin Reemann are among Estonia’s most rapidly advancing young choreographers. In their two dance-duets, they work with interactive video projections
