The Future is the North
Fri, March 27, 2009 – Sun, March 29, 2009, Festival
Shifting to the center of world attention in 2008 and 2009 is the significance of Arctic and Antarctic development, especially that of Greenland. Climate change is particularly clear on the Danish island – glaciers are retreating and flora and fauna are undergoing drastic changes. Tom Høyem, the last Minister of Greenland in the Danish government and now headmaster at the European School Karlsruhe draws attention also to Greenland’s vast natural resources and thereby to the strategically important significance of this region.

In the context of a film festival with events and films, ZKM and the European School Karlsruhe take a look at the world’s largest island and the changes global warming has set off there.
