LAW: Love Work Knowledge
Love in Discussion
Fri, September 25, 2009 – Sat, September 26, 2009, Festival
Liebe, Arbeit, Wissen (Love Work Knowledge): The first letter of these three words in German come together to form an important word in English: “LAW.” The dominance of a law also resounds in a quote from the enigmatic psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich, which finds its origins in these three words: “Love, work and knowledge are the sources of our lives, they should also rule them”: A statement that is still worthy of inquiry today.
Love in the time of loneliness and in the midst of Internet partner services and cybersex. Work in the time of precarious labor and economic crisis. Knowledge in the time of information overload and the return of religion. Do love, work, and knowledge rule our lives or have sex, power, and money always been the primary concerns?

Thomas Meinecke / Move D "WORK"
Performance / Concert
An etymological blend of the spheres work and love could already be perceived in the 1920s when “working girls” was used to designate both employed women as well as prostitutes. New York’s “Underground House Music,” Chicago’s “Booty Bass,” and Detroit’s “Ghetto-Tech” still use the vocabulary today in the context of barely concealed sexual metaphors (“work my body over”). David Moufang and Thomas Meinecke have “worked” through the repertoire of this music and produced a hypnotic mix from countless samples coupled with statements by dance veterans, dance veterans, drag queens, and DJs.
Following the performance, Thomas Meinecke and David Moufang will DJ.

"Ein schwebendes Verfahren" – Four Radio Plays
Starting material for the project worked out by Alexander Tuchacek and Eran Schaerf together with Milos Mihajlovic, Alida Müschen, Roman Schürch, and Vlada Maria – four students at the Zurich University of the Arts – is a book by the journalist and writer Laure Wyss: “Ein schwebendes Verfahren. Mutmaßungen über die Hintergründe einer Familientragödie. Eine Dokumentation” (1981). A young man, 20 years old at the time of the deed, murders his parents on New Years of 1976 for petty reasons. Osman Keskin is from a Turkish family, his father was an architect, his mother owned a cosmetic salon. They lived in Switzerland for 16 years. He was meant to enter the university. They weren’t guest workers and didn’t have the problem of belonging to a marginalized group. Or?

Jan Peters "Lost Tapes Found 1, 2, 3" – Three films
In “Lost Tapes Found 1, 2, 3” the typical autobiographical starting point for the films and radio plays by Jan Peters is a garage. In the midst of the chaos of film cans, photos, and audio and video tapes is a copy of the manifesto “The Right to Be Lazy” by Paul Lafargue from 1883. In the foreword by Aslan V. Grimson there is a statement “The only acceptable economic form in this society is trash collection,” which keeps the radio play author from throwing away what he finds. Instead, everything is stored in his studio and examined piece by piece for its (economic) viability. With a great deal of humor and (self-)irony, Jan Peters searches for answers to the big (and little) questions of life in his unexpected, re-discovered image, sound, and text archive.

Podium discussion with Hans Belting and Peter Weibel

Ammer & Console
"Have You Ever Heard Of Wilhelm Reich?"
Performance / Concert
Wilhelm Reich believed that he had solved all of humanity’s problems: Regardless of whether in his role as an ingenious Austrian psychiatrist (“The Sexual Revolution”), later as a clear sighted analyst of the global crisis (“The Mass Psychology of Fascism”), then as communist and sexual politician (“Sexpol”) or in the end – after his cryptic discovery of orgone energy – as cancer healer and rainmaker in the American desert (“The ORANUR-Experiment”). In
memory of the universal genius, Andreas Ammer & Console have created tracks that work like a musical of the Weltgeist or an acoustic orgone accumulator.
