Immediately following the world premiere of their latest piece “re-mapping the body,” the highly acclaimed Swiss Compagnie Linga will now present their German premiere in Karlsruhe.
Linga is among the few independent companies within the European scene that has succesfully taken the leap to the world elite of dance and earned a stellar reputation throughout the world with their dynamic and aesthetic dance style.
In collaboration with the Department of Sports Sciences of the University of Lausanne, the Geneva University for Music, Future Instruments and Biopac Systems Inc., Compagnie Linga has created a novel choreography project that allows the transformation of muscle impulses into sound. With this “sound system” the dancers discovered a new connection between real tones and their “toned” bodies, with which they are able to generate a number of sounds. Reappropriation of cutting edge technology signifies the birth of an entirely new type of composing, which grants access to the work of dancers and is based on making movement audible!
The music in “re-mapping the body” arises exclusively through the dancers’ movements.
Idea and choreography: Katarzyna Gdaniec and Marco Cantalupo
In collaboration with: Julien Goumaz
Dancers: Blenard Azizaj, David Gernez, Ai Koyama, Hyekyoung Kim, Dorota Łęcka, Michalis Theophanous, and Aggeliki Trobouki
Composer: Christophe Calpini
