Europe is currently facing many challenges. The centrifugal forces are increasing – at the same time, external pressures are growing. What still holds Europe together? The West is said to have started from three hills – Golgotha, the Acropolis and the Capitoline Hill (Theodor Heuss). A two-thousand-year history connects Europe to Christianity, but can Christianity still be regarded as the soul of Europe? And what roles do art and culture play in the attempt to unify Europe?
