Following a curatorial guided tour through the »Beat Generation« exhibition, Jean-Jaques Lebel, talks about his meeting with the founders of the movement.
Jean-Jacques Lebel met and worked with Ginsberg, Orlovsky, Corso, Burroughs and Gysin at the Paris Beat Hotel in 1957 and introduced them to Duchamp, Man Ray and Péret in 1958.
He has, over the years, curated eight major exhibitions concerning the Beat Generation, the present ZKM one having begun at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. It examines the relationships between the original scroll of Kerouac’s »On the Road«, manuscript documents by Ginsberg, Corso, Burroughs, Gysin and others, original art works and known or unknown high quality cinema material.
Please note: The talk will be held in English.
