Opening Part II: Writing the History of the Future

Fri, July 19, 2019 6 pm CEST, Opening

The collection exhibition »Writing the History of the Future« takes up the major themes that the ZKM has dealt with during the past 30 years: artistic and social change against the background of digitization.

Part I of the exhibition can be seen at the ZKM since February, Part II opens on July 19, 2019. The second part of »Writing the History of the Future« is dedicated to the history and utopias of video art, computer-based arts, holography and sound art.

The collection of the ZKM | Karlsruhe ranks among the largest media art collections in the world. It exemplifies the transformation of art in the face of changing technologies of production, reception, and distribution. Artists react to changes in media  and sometimes anticipate developments that only years later will be taken for granted by society as a whole: they write the history of the future.

We cordially invite you to the exhibition opening on Friday, July 19, 2019 in the foyer at 6 pm!
