Dennis Oppenheim: Aspen Projects

Dennis Oppenheim, a US pioneer of Land and Body Art, documented his spectacular performances – with the Aspen Projects (1968 through 1974). The Projects include a total of 53 short films, and the ZKM has succeeded in acquiring them for its Mediathek video collection. In these performances, Dennis Oppenheim made use of his own body as an artistic medium, explored how it interacted with elements of nature, reflected on biological processes, and at an early date thus established the limits to video as a medium.
